Probably the most common question we get about DC Six is with people asking for more information about how the filters work.  It goes something like this - "I know how to use the program.  I know how to move the sliders and I get good results.  But I don't really understand what I'm doing at a deeper level.  Can you explain to me how this stuff really works under the hood?" 

Also, we always get a large number of people who say they'd love to attend our 3 day forensic training course, but can't justify the $829 cost and don't really work with forensic audio anyway.  We've also had a number of requests from folks who would like a video recording of our training course.  Remember, though, this is 24 hours of training and much of it is focused on forensic issues that are of only passing interest to the average person doing music restoration.

However, there is a section of our training that would be of great help to all of you who use DC Six; and that's a full introduction to audio theory.  This information makes it possible for you to understand more about programs like DC Six and will make you a better users as well!

As such, we are happy to announce Audio: The Movie; a college-level course in audio without the math.  If you know nothing about the science of audio, this DVD will get you up to speed and help clarify things that may have confused you.  If you think you know everything about audio, we're sure to offer you a few surprises.  This roughly 2-hour tour will take you through real world audio, dB measurements, frequency domain issues, amplitude, sample rate and bit width as well as applying your new found knowledge in your everyday audio endeavors.  Each chapter is filled with interesting information, humor, lively banter and thankfully, no nudity.  You will learn things you thought you already knew about sound without getting a headache.    Here's a sample of the kind of questions you'll be able to answer after finishing our course:

 

Audio: The Movie is presented on a standard Video DVD with 9 chapters so that you can easily take in this large volume of information at your own pace.  We do not recommend you try to go through the whole thing in one sitting -  there's just too much head-spinning information here. 

We've done our best to relate often complex scientific theory into something much more understandable and interesting.  You won't be getting a degree as an audio dsp engineer, but you'll certainly be able to understand more about audio that will be helpful in using programs such as DC Six.  We're calling this our Learn Without Pain series.
